Cooperating with SEBI: Barclays

Barclays has confirmed that it has received a notification from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on Wednesday directing it not to issue, subscribe or transact in fresh offshore derivative instrument or participatory note till Barclays satisfies SEBI with its systems and processes.

Barclays has confirmed that it has received a notification from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on Wednesday directing it not to issue, subscribe or transact in fresh offshore derivative instrument or participatory note till Barclays satisfies SEBI with its systems and processes.

Barclays has issued a statement that says it will co-operate with SEBI in the matter. “Since receiving SEBI's original email request on Sept 24 2009, we have been and will continue to co-operate fully with SEBI as it examines certain offshore derivative transactions,” said a Barclays statement.
