Cop commits suicide in Jharkhand

A constable posted in the coal city of Dhanbad committed suicide by shooting himself in his head, says the police.

A constable posted in the coal city of Dhanbad committed suicide by shooting himself in his head Wednesday, police said.

Krishna Kumar Singh, who died while being taken to hospital, had shot himself with his service rifle. He was posted at Maniadih police picket of Dhanbad district, around 270 km from here.

In the morning, the police personnel were engaged in their duty when they heard the firing and rushed into the picket-room. They found Singh lying in a pool of blood, police said.

Police are yet to ascertain the reason for the suicide. However, some of his colleagues posted at the picket say Singh accidentally shot himself while he was cleaning his rifle.
