Deputy Superintendent of Police, Girish Pandey said Mahavir Oraon, attached with Latehar district police, was returning by a tempo when two bike-borne men shot him from point blank range killing Oraon on the spot.

Police suspected family feud could have caused the killing of Oraon who was on way to his wife's house in Palamau.

Oraon, who hailed from rural Medininagar, reportedly had two wives - one in Palamau and other in Latehar's Mohuatand.
