The police arrested Prem Bajpai, one of the six accused, in Lucknow for his alleged involvement in the Rs 5 crore fraud case.

Zeitlin is the main accused in the matter. He was chairman of a Gurgaon-based company called Independent Mobile Infrastructure Private Ltd.

In Lucknow, a case of cheating and dishonesty was lodged by a group of 16 telecom contractors because they were allegedly not paid by the company for construction work.

Bhoop Narain Singh, one of the partners in Sitakshi Contractors Company, on December 29, 2008, lodged the first information report.

Two of the accused — Rajesh Shukla and Prem Bajpai — used to look after the Lucknow office of the company. They were in charge of the company’s Uttar Pradesh operations.

One of the complainants, Sanjay Chadda, said the firm awarded contracts of developing around 140 sites in west UP and 110 sites in east UP. After the work was over, the company shut down offices in India.
