Cops keep close watch on I-Day eve

There may not be any immediate terrorist threat here but cops are in no mood of taking any chances. They are acting on the perception that any thing may happen anywhere during these days which have kept the security agencies on their toes in the country.

Services of 70 constables posted in the rural areas have already been requisitioned and cops are keeping an eye on all the important establishments in the city including bridges, monuments of historical importance, bus stands, crowded markets and high rise buildings.

So Independence Day and Krishna Janmashtmi will no more be the days of enjoyment specially for the cops who have been ordered to remain on maximum alert.

In a bid to send message that cops were on their job, frisking of tourists entering Anand Bhawan had begun from Monday morning. Checking of vehicles has been ordered at all the police stations and during these two days cops will be stopping people with an aim of checking their vehicles and frisking them on slightest of suspicion.

However, we are largely relying on intelligence inputs, said SP city RPS Yadav who was on a round of the city on Monday morning.

“We have identified 20 places where police pickets will be posted. People have been urged to remain vigilant and not succumb to rumours,” he added.
