The Union Government provided medical vans to the BRD Medical College two years ago. However, the medical college authorities did not bother to take care of these mobile vans.

MLC Dr YD Singh raised the issue in the House and the Speaker directed the government to submit a written statement on the issue.

The cognisance taken by the Speaker in the Assembly and his order had put the medical staff in a tight corner. The Medical Education Department has demanded details of the vehicles and equipment.

The Union Government provided two mobile medical vans and other the equipment to the medical college. But, owing to irresponsible apathetic attitude of the college authorities towards equipment, the vans could not be utilised.

Besides, the refrigerators and the generators installed in the vans are missing.

Dr Singh said that the parts of the vans are also missing and medical college officers took no notice of it. Sources said that chief secretary had directed medical college authorities to submit a detailed report regarding the mobile medical vans and other equipments.

With directive of the chief secretary, the college authorities started the search for the vans and the generators.
