A COUPLE sustained burns in their house at Marathi Mohalla last night after the flames of the stove being used for cooking got out of control. The couple has been hospitalised in a serious condition.
According to information, Sangeeta Mehra was cooking on a stove and started pouring kerosene into it without extinguishing the flames. As a result, the flames suddenly leapt up and Sangeeta’s sari caught fire.
As she screamed for help, her husband Mukesh came to her assistance and he too sustained burns. Both had to be admitted to the MY Hospital. While Mukesh has suffered 98 per cent burns, Sangeeta has suffered 65 per cent burns. The couple has two children.
Attempted murder case against 3
CASES OF attempted murder were registered against three persons who attacked a youth after the former glared at them. The incident occurred at Mhowgaon where Ranjeet son of Kanhaiyalal Balai was attacked by Rakesh, Qadir Khan and Rayees with sharp-edged weapons. Ranjeet has been admitted to hospital.

Sudha Dhansani had locked her flat and gone to meet her sister-in-law, and when she returned she found that the lock had been broken open and thieves had taken away Rs 8,000 in cash and gold and silver ornaments worth around Rs 1 lakh from the house.
In Tirupati Colony, thieves struck at a flat at Swapnalok Apartment owned by Govind, son of Ramesh Chandra Agrawal. The thieves decamped with two gold rings, 20 gold coins, 15 pairs of anklets and Rs 13,900 in cash, totalling around Rs 1 lakh. Agrawal, who runs his own business, had gone to meet a relative at around 2.30 pm and taking advantage of his absence thieves struck.
Thieves also took away a colour television and other goods from house at B Sector, Rajnagar, falling under Chandan Nagar police station owned by Narayan son of Pappu Pandit.
