A couple on the outskirts of Jharkhand capital, Ranchi, was forced to consume human excreta for allegedly practicing black magic.
The incident took place Monday at Saram village, 60 km from Ranchi, according to police. Dileshawar Nayaka and his wife were tortured by their cousins on the allegation that the woman was a witch doctor.
Nayaka was first taken to village panchayat. Later, he was beaten up and was forced to consume human excreta along with his wife. He had to be admitted to Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) in Ranchi.
Nayaka's wife was believed to be a witch doctor. One of Nayaka's cousins alleged that his wife used her black magic to cause epilepsy to him. The cousins ordered the woman to cure the ailing man. Failure to cure him resulted in the ghastly act.
Police lodged an FIR against four people for beating and forcing the couple to consume human excreta. The accused were absconding following the incident.
