Narendra Kumar Purohit (22) and Kamla Rajpurohit (19), who entered into wedlock despite strong objection from their families, appeared before the court on June 30, alleging that they were receiving threats from family members.

The court then asked the state Home Secretary, Superintendent of Police (Pali) and the Station House Officer of the related police station to provide security to the couple.

Narendra and Kamla were in love for long but when they expressed their wish to marry, their parents threatened them of dire consequences, their counsel Vishal Sharma said.

However, the couple married against the wishes of their families on June 2 at Arya Samaj in Ajmer and started living together in another place. Soon the girl's family registered a missing complaint with the police, Sharma said.

When the couple learnt about the complaint, they informed the police of their marriage, he said, adding after the incident, the duo started receiving threats from their families following which they decided to move the court.

Pali SP B L Meena said the couple appeared before him today and police will provide them security as long as they stay in the city as per the court order.
