DK Panda aka DOOSARI RADHA will now have to pay about Rs 2.65 lakh to his wife Veena Panda towards interim maintenance, thanks to an order of Family Court principal judge Vigyan Ram Mishra, passed here on Wednesday.
The court passed the orders on an application moved by Veena claiming maintenance from her husband. The application had been moved in February 2004. But she went to the high court for the speedy disposal of the application when it remained pending in the family court for a considerable period of time.
Justice NK Mehrotra of the Lucknow bench of the HC had then directed the principal judge to dispose of the application within three months. The family court ordered Panda, former IG of Police (UP), to pay the allowance at the rate of Rs. 9600 per month since Feb 11, 2004 to Nov 27, 2005 (when he retired) and at the rate of Rs. 6700 per month since Nov 28, 2005 till further orders of this court.
The court further directed Panda to pay a sum of Rs. 6,000 to his wife as the cost of the litigation. The order passed on Wednesday is only an interim one and DK Panda will have to wait for some more time for the final order. The court fixed October 12 for further hearing in the matter.
