The Calcutta High Court said on Wednesday that the Indian hockey team must use the Sahara logo.
While passing the order following a petition by Kolkata’s Leisure Sports Management on behalf of Sahara, Justice Indira Banerjee directed the ad hoc committee to ensure that team should wear the logo at international matches, warm-up games, practice sessions and any official ceremony.
Wednesday's order was an extension of an earlier order dated February 2 in which the court had restrained the ad hoc committee from using any other logo on the shirts in the Punjab Gold Cup where India finished runners-up on Monday.
The Indian hockey team left for Australia on Wednesday for a two-match series which will be followed by a four-match series in New Zealand from February 19.
Sources confirmed that soon after the order, team members were ‘asked’ to carry T-shirts with the Sahara logo. Mohd Aslam, the ad hoc committee convener, couldn't be contacted despite repeated attempts by HT.
