The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court has found the affidavit filed by Uttar Pradesh Government on documents related to Ayodhya title suits "vague" and directed it to present the relevant records or file a fresh affidavit clearly stating its stand on the issue.
The special full bench of the court comprising Justice S Rafat Alam, Justice Sudhir Agarwal and Justice D V Sharma passed the order on Tuesday and directed the Chief Secretary Atul Kumar Gupta to remain present in the court along with the relevant records on May 29.
In pursuance of the court's earlier order, the Chief Secretary appeared in the court yesterday and filed an affidavit which was found "vague" by the court which said that the state govenrment has taken an "evasive" stand instead of making a categorical statement regarding availability of the documents records and the reason for non-production thereof before the court.
Both the Advocate General and the Chief Secretary sought further time and requested that the matter may be adjourned to May 29.
Accepting their request, the court in its order said, "Let this matter be placed again on May 29,2009 on which date the chief secretary shall remain present along with the relevant records as directed above or shall file an affidavit giving clear and categorical stand of the government."
