The Bandra court issued summonses against actor Sanjay Dutt and wife Maanyata on Tuesday.

The summons was issued after taking cognisance of a complaint by Maanyata’s first husband, Mohammed Mairaj Rehman, who claimed that they had not divorced, and that Maanyata’s second marriage was not legally valid.

Magistrate Pankaj Shah passed the order considering that Maanyata had not disputed the fact that she was married to Rehman.

Mairaj’s advocate, Tasneem Khan, brought to the court's notice that the method of divorce adopted according to Maanyata's statement was not valid as per the Muslim Marriage Act 1939, and was not valid unless it was registered before the family court.

The case will come up for further hearing on April 1.

Mairaj had earlier pleaded that the court pass orders directing Dutt and Maanyata to refrain from a physical relationship.
