STATE COUNCIL of the Communist Party of India (CPI) today strongly condemned the death sentence awarded to Saddam Hussain.

In a statement, CPI joint secretary Girish said the punishment was nothing but a directive of the US. It was a biased judgment by the judiciary and should be condemned by all communities of the world, he added.

“India should ask the US to leave Iraq and let democracy rule there. In fact, the US is targeting several other nations to create an Iraq-like situation before its general elections,” said Girish.
The council directed all its district units to hold demonstrations against the death sentence.
