A CPI(M) party activist was hacked to death and his wife and son were seriously injured when suspected Maoists attacked them in Bandwan in Purulia district bordering Jharkhand state, police said.

Suspected Maoists raided the house of a prominent CPI(M) activist Sripati Besra at Pushboni village in Bandwan on Sunday night, police said.
His wife and son, who were seriously injured, have been admitted to Purulia Sadar hospital, police added.
Additional police forces were rushed to the village from Bandwan.
