Claiming that his three-year old government succeeded in putting the state on the path of development and improving its economy, Chief Minister AK Antony today asked opposition CPI-M to "recast its outdated" policies and programmes in tune with the emerging global economic order to pave way for Kerala's all round progress.

"CPI-M in Kerala should be ready to adopt policies that lead to economic development by discarding its outdated policies and keeping away from frequent strikes and hartals that had ruined the state's economy while development works in neighbouring Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are going on a much faster pace," Antony told a 'meet the press' programme here.

CPI-M should learn lessons from the sweeping changes that had been taking place in the party ruled West Bengal, China and introspect what should be done in Kerala to make the state a destination of the investors, he said.

Terming the reported remarks by VS Achuthanandan that the ruling UDF's second rung leaders were planning to switch over to the LDF as a "day-dream", Antony said the opposition leader in the state assembly was "a worried man" over the unity among Congress factions ahead of the elections.
