Speaking to reporters here, CPI state general secretary D Pandian said: "The party has decided to support the AIADMK in the Vandavasi and Tiruchendur by-elections."

He met AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa Thursday morning.

The PMK, which has decided not to contest the elections, is yet to decide which party to support - the ruling DMK or AIADMK.

PMK, which was in alliance with AIADMK, had recently broken its ties with the latter.

Speaking to reporters here, PMK leader S Ramadoss said the decision on supporting a party will be taken in a couple of days.

Meanwhile, actor Vijayakant-led DMDK has announced Gomathi Kannan and N. Janardanan as its candidates for Tiruchendur and Vandavasi constituencies respectively.

It will now be a three-cornered contest between the AIADMK, the DMK and the DMDK for the two seats.
