Extending support to the struggle of women working in integrated child development scheme (ICDS) in Jammu and Kashmir, state CPI (M) on Thursday said he would raise their demands on the floor of the House during the forthcoming Assembly session.

State Secretary M Y Tarigami gave this assurance to various delegations of Anganwadi workers and helpers who called on him here and apprised him of their demands including institutionalisation of ICDS, regularisation of their services, enhancement of honorarium and social security benefits like provident fund and pension, a party release said.
Tarigami alleged that NC led coalition government had neglected the Anganwadi workers and helpers who constitute the backbone of the ICDS.
"In spite of their high social relevance, job security eludes the Anganwadi workers and helpers whose economic and social profile is low," he added.
