ICONS OF the fashion world just stole the hearts of budding technocrats at the Open Air Theatre of IT-Gymkhana Grounds at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), here on Friday evening.
The occasion was the second day of the four-day all India annual youth festival ‘Kashi Yatra’ of the Institute of Technology, BHU.
Leading models including Miss India Earth-2005, Niharika Singh, Miss Gladrags mega models, Parul Chaudhary and Jaishree Taheliyani, Ankita and Saryu enlivened the show as they strutted their stuff on the ramp.
On the outset of the fashion show, titled ‘Marichika’, the students displayed their talent and walked on the ramp amidst blaring English and Hindi songs. The participants showcased their creativity under various sessions like ethnic and western ethnic sequences.
A troop of IT-BHU led by Swati staged a dance show to the tune of ‘Chup-chup rahte hein hum pyar mein’, and ‘Zindagi mein kabhi koi aaye na rabba’. Students of the National Institute of Fashion Designing and KNIT, Sultanpur, also took part.
The students attempted to show the survival of mankind through various ages like Gladiator, Age of Unification,
The Samurai, The Military and The Matrix. Crucifixion of Jesus Christ was also shown. Various dresses were up on display as popular Hindi song ‘Ada Jaan Lewa Ada, Maar Dale Na’ played along. Cheers greeted the special segment in which models displayed non-fabric dresses made of various items such as polythene, poster, banner, jute and bangles..
