Three persons were arrested and over a 100 mobile phones with SIM cards recovered from their possession.

“We had specific information that some people were running a satta (betting) racket on IPL matches in Surajkund area,” said Anil Kumar, in charge of Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Bhupani.

Surajkund police and CIA teams raided a house in Greenfield colony under Surajkund police station late Sunday night, he said.

“The police arrested three people while they were busy betting on an IPL match that was being played at that time. They recovered over 100 mobile phones, one TV set, registers on which records of bidders was being maintained, etc,” DCP NIT Praveen Mehta said.

They have been identified as Naveen Sharma alias Nishikant, Dharminder and Manoj Kumar, all from Faridabad.

One Naresh from Delhi is absconding, the police said.

“They were living on rent and would receive bidding calls on the mobiles phones from different people and note them down in small slips,” DCP

Mehta added. The trio have been booked under different sections of Indian Penal Code.

“We are looking for the fourth man, Naresh, who seems to be kingpin ,” Mehta said.

All three were produced before court which remanded them in three days police custody.

“We are sure the racketeers could have used forged documents for getting the SIM cards,” Mehta said, adding,

“the details are being collected so that the documents that were submitted for getting the SIM cards are verified”.

“The SIM cards used are mostly of Reliance and Tata Indicom,” he added.

A police official said Naveen Sharma alias Nishikant of Sayedwada in Old Faridabad has been arrested in a similar case sometime back.
