He said the process of calculating the insurance claim was in progress as the report of the Kharif crop 2005 cutting experiment was to be made available to the insurance companies by January 31, 2006. Choudhary said commercial and cooperative banks in Rajgarh district received insurance premium of Rs 489.95 lakh from farmers last year.
Tiwari, who raised the issue, said the farmers were anguished over non-payment of insurance money by societies and banks though about 75 per cent crop had been damaged due to scanty rains. The bank officials were unaware of the quantum and conditions for payment of insurance amount, he added.
