In order to avoid confrontation with the admission seekers, many colleges have preferred to issue admission forms to every student. But at a few colleges, forms were being issued only after inquiring about the student’s percentage.The district administration is on the alert as there are many aspirants and numbered seats. Students preferring to opt for science and commerce courses may face disappointment, as the pass percentage at the Intermediate examination has gone up considerably. Besides, a large number of students got first divisions.

At most colleges, 70 per cent is the cut-off for B Sc and B Com courses.

However, at prestigious colleges, the percentage is 75 per cent. College authorities feel that due to the rush for the two courses, even students with first class marks may not be accommodated in colleges of their choice. However, they could get admission to self-financed colleges (SFC), as very few students with merit marks would be left for SFCs.
