It may not be as big as cricket or tennis in the Capital but it does have its dedicated followers living life in the fast lane and winning laurels too.

Recently, Gaurav Gill of the city made his mark at the motor Rally of Pune.

He was part of the JK Tyres team that came out tops at the rally, finishing two minutes, 22 seconds ahead of the MRF team.

Winning with the vroom machine comes easy to Gaurav as "the sport runs in the family. I was inspired by my uncle who was one of the best drivers in the game. I tried Go Karting and biking before I got into motor sport as I didn’t get a break till I got a driving license."

He feels that the sport "is becoming popular with the young at a faster rate now." The 24-year old knows that the highway to success has its share of speed brakers.

For Gill, mean machines are his toys and he owns are a Skoda RS and a super bike Honda CBR 1000 cc. And he will soon have a Lancer Cedia to wheel around in the rallies, courtesy his team.
