People looking for alternative treatment and a cheaper substitute to allopathic medicine or a painless and side effect free medication thronged the fair in droves.

Dr Santosh Jaiswal from Yevatmal who seldom visits the City but quite frequently goes to Chhindwara in search of herbs and for treating people at a fixed time and place can be consulted at stall No. 8. The stall is different from all others as the doctor claims to offer a cure for almost all diseases which he has named in a chart.

Another chart in his stall that catches the attention of visitors to the fair is the ‘vajikaran chakra’, which he claims to have designed.

The chart shows how infirmity and impotency come in the male sexual organ with increasing age. Jaiswal claims that a medicine prepared from a combination of several rare herbs having aphrodisiac qualities mentioned in Ayurveda can beat Viagra even though the user happens to be a 70-year-old man.

Nearly 15 Ayurveda doctors from several districts sent by the Laghu Vanopaj Samiti are offering free consultation. Ayurveda practitioners from government Ashtang Ayurved College, Indore and Burhanpur are also giving free advise and medication including the nvigorating Ayurvedic massage now made famous by the nature retreats in the backwaters of Kerala.

Forest officials—forest conservator Rajesh Shrivastav and district forest officer (DFO) BS Annageri and deputy rangers NK Shrivastav and Jaiveer Singh are taking rounds, interacting with stall owners and helping people in selecting
homemade remedies.

The food stall set up by the Forest Department serving original ‘dal-paniya’ has an a special gastronomic appeal for the Indoreans.
