Curfew continued for the second day in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri after protesters clashed with the police on Tuesday demanding the arrest of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal activists, who had burnt an Islamic State (IS) flag with a verse from the Quran on it.
"Curfew is continuing. The decision to revoke or suspend it will be taken after reviewing the situation," said senior superintendent of police Haseeb Mughal.
Authorities also suspended internet services by all services providers on Tuesday evening. Though, there has not been any official communication on it so far.
There has been no report of any communal clash in the town.
Members of the Muslim community had given a call for a bandh in Rajouri, 150 km from Jammu, on Tuesday to protest Monday's incident.
Representatives of the Hindu organisations had apologised for burning the flag with the verse, but members of the Muslim community said they were satisfied with a verbal apology and continued with their demand that those responsible for the incident be arrested.
The curfew was imposed after a three-hour clash between Muslims demanding the arrest of people and the police on Tuesday. The army staged a flag march on Tuesday evening and has also been to be available at a short notice.
