Curfew extended to entire Ludhiana city

District Magistrate Ludhiana has extended the curfew to entire city and issued an advisory to the public against venturing out of their homes. In a statement issued Ludhiana DM Vikas Garg stated that curfew, which initially was clamped in parts of city has been extended to all police stations in city till further orders.

In a statement issued Ludhiana DM Vikas Garg stated that curfew, which initially was clamped in parts of city has been extended to all police stations in city till further orders. “During curfew, no member of the public shall remain out of door or any street road or any public place in areas falling under theses police stations”, said an advisory issued by DM office.

Following the firing incident, which claimed one life and left 12 injured, the dera people announced discontinuation of their religious congregation, which was earlier scheduled to be held at same venue on Sunday too.

Meanwhile the Punjab government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the Ludhiana incident. Reacting to the incident while Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal described the days events as “most unfortunate and painful", congress termed it as sheer failure of SAD-BJP government. In a statement Ludhiana MP and AICC spokesperson Manish Tewari observed that the state government should have been more vigilant and anticipated the situation beforehand and taken appropriate preventive and preemptive action. “Lathis and bullets are not the solution in a democratic polity”, he said.
