Curfew lifted in Ramban, Amarnath Yatra resumes

Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have lifted curfew and allowed the Amarnath Yatra from Jammu to resume. The Yatra was stopped for two days in the wake of a firing incident in the Gool area of the state's Ramban District earlier this week, which claimed four lives.

Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have lifted curfew and allowed the Amarnath Yatra from Jammu to resume.

The Yatra was stopped for two days in the wake of a firing incident in the Gool area of the state's Ramban District earlier this week, which claimed four lives.

According to the police, a batch of 1834 pilgrims, including 45 sadhus, left for the Valley from Jammu base camp on Saturday evening under tight security.

They left in a cavalcade of 56 vehicles. The Jammu-Srinagar Highway has also been reopened for vehicular traffic.

Normalcy has returned to Gool, Dharam and Sanglandan areas of Ramban district, which were epicenters of the protests.
