As Republicans and Democrats get ready for perhaps a changed political environment on Capitol Hill, the only big question is the margin of win or loss the two sides are going to post by early Wednesday.

As the campaigns of candidates for the House of Representatives, Senate and the State Houses came to a close all indications pointed to a tightening of the race with pollsters and pundits making the point that the Grand Old Party had made surprise advances in the last two days of the stretch much to the dismay and apprehension of Democrats.

It is predicted that the Democrats may win the House of Representatives, getting the required 15 seats extra that they needed to take away from the Republicans. But analysts have talked of a tightened race for the Senate, which at one time looked like also falling to the Democrats.

As the Democrats' control of the House of Representatives was said to be a foregone conclusion, one political analyst Chuck Todd of Washington Hotline argued that if the margin of win in the House is less than five seats for the Democrats "then it is a Republican victory".
