CWG case: Shiela Dikshit puts up brave face, BJP says probe symbolic

Reacting to the Delhi government move to initiate a probe into an alleged scam on installation of street lights during the Commonwealth Games, former CM Sheila Dikshit said her government had answered every single issue raised by the VK Shunglu committee appointed by the PM to look into allegations of corruption in projects related to the Commonwealth Games 2010.

Reacting to the Delhi government move to initiate a probe into an alleged scam on installation of street lights during the Commonwealth Games, former chief minister Sheila Dikshit said her government had answered every single issue raised by the VK Shunglu committee appointed by the Prime Minister to look into allegations of corruption in projects related to the Commonwealth Games 2010.

“We (Delhi government) had answered point-by-point to the questions raised by the Shunglu committee in its report,” Dikshit told Hindustan Times.

Refusing to comment on the anti-corruption branch registering a first investigation report on alleged loss to the exchequer on the purchase of imported luminaries, Dikshit said she was not aware about the case.

“I will be able to react only after I see the papers,” she said.

The Bharatiya Janata Party, however, expressed happiness on the Delhi government’s move.

Stating that it had already submitted proof related to the alleged scams that took place during the tenure of Sheila Dikshit, the state unit BJP chief termed the AAP government’s move as symbolic.

Reacting to the government’s order to the anti-corruption branch to probe the alleged scam regarding street lights installed for the Commonwealth Games, leader of the opposition Harsh Vardhan said a responsible agency should probe the matter.

“I had reported against a lot of scams going on during the Sheila Dikshit government. Why aren’t those issues being investigated?” he asked.
