Dalit double murder: Kins given R 5 lakh each

A day after the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) visited the Madina7 village in the wake of tension owing to the murder of two dalits, the district administration has given ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the kins of the deceased.

A day after the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) visited the Madina7 village in the wake of tension owing to the murder of two dalits, the district administration has given ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the kins of the deceased.

Meham sub-divisional magistrate Rajiv Ahlawat told HT: "The compensation cheque has been handed over to the family members of Sudhir and Vikram who were killed on March 30 (Saturday)."

Notably, tension gripped Madina village, 18 km from here on the Hisar-Delhi road, after two members of the Dalit community were shot dead, while injuring a third one, identified as Sandeep, by three motorcycle-borne youths. One Amit Kumar (in twenties) was arrested by the police from a village in Jind on Monday.
