Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the dark days of the present government in Pakistan had ended, and that he would soon return to Pakistan, to prepare for his party's preparation for the 2007 elections.
Addressing a PML-N Workers' Convention from London, Sharif said he would contest the general elections under a new manifesto, paving the way for a more strong and democratic Pakistan.
"We have decided to contest the next general elections under a new manifesto, which will lead the country to a strong democratic system," the Daily Times quoted him as saying.
He said his arrival would open up a new chapter of progress and prosperity in Pakistan and that was the reason Pakistan's military rulers were trying to keep him away from the country's politics.
He said that PML-N workers should continue their struggle for the restoration of the 1973 Constitution and the supremacy of the Parliament, adding that the party would soon return to power in Pakistan.
"I am aware of all that is being done to PML-N workers in Pakistan, and congratulate them for preferring to stay in jails than cooperate with deal with the ruling party. I assure you that the dark days of the present government have ended," he said.
