Students of the college, who had never accepted the concept of half-yearly exams, have now no hesitation in taking these exams.

According to college principal Dr Ashok Saxena, over 60 per cent students at the graduate level took half-yearly exams this year while attendance of postgraduate students hundred per cent.

Dr Saxena said that colleges had no power to initiate action against students for not taking the exams. He said those who took the exams had to follow all the rules of the university and disciplinary action was initiated against those who used unfair means. “Ordinarily in the final exams examinees are not allowed to put on shoes. They have to come to college wearing chappals so that thorough checking can be done of each examinee. But since the half-yearly exams are held in winter examinees are allowed to put on shoes,” he added.

According to the principal, the college could muster good attendance of examinees just by friendly motivation. “There was no way to force them for taking the exams.”

Asked how the management could check the menace of union leaders, the principal said the government order was strictly implemented and not a single student who crossed 25 years of age was admitted to any class. Earlier, seasoned students leaders used to get admission to postgraduate classes irrespective of their age and they used to spoil the academic atmosphere of the college.

For the first time none of the contestants raised any slogan inside the college during the union elections and adhered to the rules of the college. To check entry of outsiders the system of identity card has been introduced in the college.
