The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday lauded Arvind Kejriwal for quitting as chief minister of Delhi on the issue of janlokpal bill and dared both the Congress and the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) to form a government together.
Explaining that the Kejriwal government’s request to the Lieutenant Governor to dissolve the Delhi assembly and recommend re-polls was a constitutional decision, senior AAP leader Yogendra Yadav said, “Whatever happened yesterday in the assembly is shameful and both Congress and the government have shown their true colours. As a party, we openly dare BJP and the Congress to form a government together.”
“The Kejriwal-led government has set a precedent for a government willing to give up power. It had become quite clear that even introduction of the Jan Lokpal Bill in the assembly was impossible due to Congress and BJP’s united efforts to thwart it. The party compliments Arvind (Kejriwal) for not hesitating to take a decision (to quit) in view of the situation,” Yadav told reporters after a meeting of the party’s political affairs committee (PAC).
Kejriwal had on Friday resigned after Congress and BJP voted out his government’s flagship Jan Lokpal Bill from being tabled in the assembly. Although the two parties claimed, they supported AAP’s Jan Lokpal Bill, actually, they were against the bill from the beginning, Prashant Bhushan, an APP leader said, adding, “Both the parties do not want a corruption free country. The AAP has been formed to weed out corruption from the country and hence passing a strong Jan Lokpal Bill in the assembly was our priority.”

{{/usCountry}}With a clear focus on the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday held a meeting of its MLAs on Friday.
The meeting attended by more than 20 AAP MLAs at the party’s central office in Kaushambi was attended by AAP leader Manish Sisodia. They held a discussion about the Jan Lokpal and the party’s strategy ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, a party leader said.
The party has already announced that it would fight the maximum number of seats — up to 350 — in the Lok Sabha polls.
