Debate on activeness of judiciary neede

STRESSING THE need to kick off a debate on the activeness of the judiciary and its alleged interference in functioning of Parliament and executive, Speaker in Uttar Pradesh assembly Mata Prasad Pandey said here that the debate should start from Gorakhpur. STRESSING THE need to kick off a debate on the activeness of the judiciary and its alleged interference in functioning of Parliament and executive, Speaker in Uttar Pradesh assembly Mata Prasad Pandey said here that the debate should start from Gorakhpur.

Pandey was addressing the advocates in the conference hall at the Collectorate Court after laying the foundation stone for the advocates’ chamber.

He said that due to democracy, the judiciary had the privilege of monitoring the working of the Parliament and executive through Article 32 of the Constitution of India. He said the judiciary was working freely which was an example of the powerful democracy in our country.

Sympathisisng with the advocates, he said though lawyers worked hard, they were not getting proper remuneration for their work. Pandey highlighted the role of the advocate community in the freedom movement and said in the changing scenario, advocates had to play a vital role to protect the rights of the common people.

Pandey praised local MLA RMD Agrawal for his sincerity and his effective style in raising various problems of Purvanchal and mounting pressure on the government to take an initiative in solving them.

Presiding over the programme, cabinet minister Harishanker Tiwari said lawyers had credibility in society when others in every walk of society were feeling incredibility problems. He said the collapse of the porch of advocates’ chambers under construction at Civil Court was a dot on the district administration and warned the officials to be sensitive and watchful during construction of the chamber at the Collectorate Court as the chief minister had allocated the Rs 38 lakh for it.
