With their death sentence stayed by the Supreme Court, the four, jail officials said, are constantly monitored by CCTV cameras. They were kept under watch after the main accused, Ram Singh, was found dead in his cell last year.

The convicts have not been given any work in the prison, unlike other prisoners.

Vinay has graduated to second year of his BA (programme) from the Delhi University. At the time of his arrest, he worked at a gymnasium in Siri Fort.

“He is awaiting results for the second year examination that he wrote recently. The examination was held within the jail premises,” said a jail official.

Vinay’s is the only one whose family had come to visit. His father, who works at the airport as a loader, gave him money to buy food from the canteen, the last time they met.

“He keeps writing letters which are first checked by the officials. He does not talk much especially after the death of his younger sister,” added the jail official.

Jail official said that for the last one of the half years , Mukesh has not had any visitor.

Accused Akshay Thakur who is lodged in jail 5, is the most reserved of the lot who has been kept in a separate jail from the other accused.

He, in his interaction with the jail officials, has often confessed to his crime and blamed Mukesh and Ram Singh for getting him involved.
