Several coastal areas like Paradip, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore and Mayurbhanj in the north have been experiencing rainfall since yesterday under the impact of the system, official sources said.

Some places witnessed strong winds along with rainfall and thundershower, the sources said, adding fishermen have been advised not to venture to the sea, which remained rough.

The deep depression, which crossed Orissa coast yesterday, moved north-west from Gangetic West Bengal and lay centred north of Jamshedpur in Jharkhand, the meteorological centre here said.

The met centre has warned heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places over north Orissa and at isolated places over southern region till tomorrow.
