Long-distance runner and reigning champion Deepchand Sharan set the track ablaze as he succesfully defended his men's title in the Mawana Sugars Indian Open full marathon on Sunday.

UP's Shastri Devi won the women's full marathon title after completing the 42.195km distance with a timing of 3:4:18.

Army man Deepchand clocked 2:19:34 to take home the winner's cheque of Rs 2.5 lakh and Mawana Sugars' sweet gift of sugar equal to his own bodyweight -- 68 kg.
Shastri also pocketed Rs 2.5 lakh as cash prize besides 52 kg of sugar as winner in the women's section.
Armymen made the clean sweep with Rajesh Thankachan (2:21.39) and Durgabux Yadav (2:22.49) finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively.
