India and Bangladesh on Monday agreed to work together to prevent various diseases, including HIV/AIDS, and strengthen healthcare services in the region.

The agreement was reached during a meeting between Minister of State for Health Panabaka Lakshmi and Bangladesh's Health and Family Welfare Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain.

Both countries would launch joint effort in preventing dieseases like HIV/AIDS, polio, malaria kala azar and TB, UNB news agency reported.
Bangladesh Health Secretary AKM Jafar Ullah Khan and Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Veena Sikri were also present on the occasion, it said.
