Barely a week before a verdict in the December 16 gang rape case, the juvenile accused on Friday was held guilty of illegally confining and robbing a carpenter on the fateful night.
A carpenter named Ramadhar was lured into the same bus before the physiotherapy student and her male friend boarded it that night. The 23-year-old student was gang-raped and assaulted along with her male friend allegedly by the juvenile accused and five other men.
Sources in the Juvenile Justice Board said principal magistrate Geetanjali Goel convicted the juvenile under section 395 (dacoity), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 412 (dishonestly receiving property stolen in the commission of a dacoity) of the IPC.
The minor, however, was acquitted under section 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person and 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) of the IPC.
The board will pronounce its sentence on July 25. On the same day, it will also pronounce the final judgement in the gang rape case in which the juvenile is an accused.

{{/usCountry}}Additional sessions judge Yogesh Khanna had on Thursday directed the Northern Railways to produce the CCTV footage of December 15, 2012, after accused Akshay Thakur requested the footage of the New Delhi Railway Station be produced in the court to prove that he had left by Maha Bodhi Express.
The railways said it preserves CCTV footage for only 30 days.
Also, the recording of defence witnesses’ statement on behalf of Pawan Gupta did not take place as his counsel failed to turn up with the witnesses.
