Three unidentified youth looted a jewellery shop in New Delhi at gunpoint on Sunday and shot the owner while trying to flee. One of them was caught by residents, police said.

"One of the thieves, Ashraf, was nabbed and handed over to the police. We are questioning him and trying to identify the other two," said a senior police official.
Vikas Jain, the owner of the jewellery shop—Shweta Jewellers in Rohini, northwest Delhi, was shot on his left shoulder. Though he was out of danger, he was undergoing treatment at a private hospital, police said.
A number of golden jewellery sets were stolen though police were yet to estimate the amount of the loss.
