Sehwag played an authoritative knock to score the joint second highest World Cup knock by an Indian batsman that gave a firm grip over Bangladesh by the halfway mark.

Sehwag put one false step when a mix-up saw Sachin Tendulkar - playing his sixth World Cup - run out early.

But he teamed up with his Delhi mates Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli, who scored a century on his World Cup debut.

Bangladesh gave a good chase but came up against Munaf Patel, who captured four wickets.
