The team, headed by a SHO-level officer, was reportedly probing if Sahil had any contacts with drugs suppliers in Mumbai and whether he was involved in supplying drugs while staying in Mumbai as a student and later as a businessman, sources said.

The team which arrived in Mumbai the day before Wednesday had earlier initiated its independent probe, but later took help of Mumbai Police to expedite their investigations, sources said.

Mumbai Police Commissioner AN Roy said that the Delhi Police team was in touch with the Marine Drive police and the Colaba Police in connection with the criminal offence registered against Zarru in Mumbai.

Sahil, is wanted in the Wildlife Protection Act case registered against him by Marine Drive police in April this year.

Later, he secured anticipatory bail from a local court and did not attend the proceedings, prompting the court to declare him as wanted, sources said.

The trial of the case is likely to begin some time this month, police sources said.
