Following the successful lead of Dubai in establishing a hot tourist destination called "Global village", Delhi would have its own such village soon. This is being set up in a sprawling area of 60 acres with 20 acres of parking near Noida DND flyover. This year, the event would be organised from March 15 upto April 15.
"We want to sell Delhi as a top tourist destination to the world. This effort would go a long way in adding colour, adventure and exposition to both the domestic and foreign tourists’ itinerary of the city," said Delhi Tourism minister Arvinder Singh Lovely.
So far 15 countries have confirmed their participation in the event to be held annually. These are China, Czech Republic, Egypt, India, Iran, Iraq, Kenya, Pakistan, Senegal, South Sub Sahara African countries, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, UAE and Vietnam.
The visitors can enjoy international pavilions, restaurant and cafes with global cuisine, a European fun fair, fireworks every weekend and an international carnival. The carnival would include Russian stilt walkers to Egyptian belly dancers and African drummers. Traditional Indian folk dancers too will join the carnival.
Lovely said the Delhi Tourism along with the Noida Toll Bridge Company has entered into a memorandum of understanding with a Dubai based company for the month long Global Village. "Display and sale of products from across the globe, exposition and marketing of ethnic handicrafts would be the feature of the village," said the minister.

{{/usCountry}}Managing Director of Delhi Tourism, Sanat Kaul said the concept of Dubai has been replicated and promised that it will be a memorable event for the people of the city. "It would be a holistic package of entertainment, fun, frolic and shopping with an international flavour," promised Kaul.
