Goa police have asked the Supreme Court to direct the sessions court conducting the trial of Tehelka founder editor Tarun Tejpal in a sexual assault case to start hearing the arguments on charge.

In its application, the state police claimed they have complied with the top court’s direction to supply Tejpal with the documents they have relied on to prosecute him.

They, however, admitted that Tejpal has not been given the mirror image and clone copy of all the data of the victim’s mobile phone from November 7 to December 31, 2013. Police said the CFSL report from Hyderabad has declined to make the clone copy, saying it was technically impossible.

Similarly, police have not handed over the hard drive of the computer on which the alleged e-mails were written by the victim. This, they claimed, was never submitted to the court and therefore, a copy of it need not be given to Tejpal.
