Disappointed, but we are focussed on next game

We were disappointed with our performance in the first game Wednesday. We are perennially slow starters, so this year we were looking to start off on a good note. Stephen Fleming writes.

We were disappointed with our performance in the first game Wednesday. We are perennially slow starters, so this year we were looking to start off on a good note. Since we were starting off at home, we were hoping to reverse the trend since we have such a good record at home. We were well below par in the game and did not, at any stage, compete in the contest. So that was disappointing.

The group as a whole got together and turned its focus to the next game. I would say it wasn't a big surprise that we started off like this because we got together as a group just a day before the game. But this makes us all the more determined. We have got a line in the sand that we need to better.

Doug Bollinger had not bowled for two months, so it was good to see him go through four overs. Overall, I would think that the bowling was good. Albie Morkel was superb and Dwayne Bravo was good, too.

I would like to think that the form of our seamers suggests that we will be in good hands when we play at home next. Next up for us is Deccan Chargers at Vizag. The pressure of being two-time champions is a nice one to have. We are excited about wanting to become champions again.
