The comic book was launched by RBI Regional Director, HR Khan and was launched as part of RBI's strategy to promote financial literacy in the country. The comic aims to educate the school children on importance of saving for future.

"There is an urgent need to promote financial literacy in the country to increase the penetration of banks in the rural areas and steps like this are definitely a good move in that direction," Khan said.

However, he also emphasised on the need to provide counselling to both employees of the banks and as well as to the consumers to make them aware about the problems related to repayment of loans.

Disha is also planning to bring more comics on basic banking, on currency and another on RBI as monetary authority and is also working on publishing comics on banking services for specific target group, such as women, defence personnel, senior citizens etc.

Disha financial counselling is a trust promoted by ICICI Bank, which works in the direction of creating awareness about financial products such as credit cards, loans and other services offered by banks.
