THE DEVELOPMENT of a nation without compromising with its cultural values is the best way forward.

The Western countries have adopted several models to spread education across the country and this has been initiated in our country too.
This opinion was expressed by Mohan Singh, MP, while speaking at the concluding ceremony of the two-day national seminar on ' Dimension of Distance Education' organised by Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU) on Wednesday.
He said that although our country has advanced to a great extent, the major portion of the population especially those below poverty line and living in the remote areas still remains untouched by the education.
He said that distance education is the medium which can spread education even in remote areas at par with the conventional system of education.
Earlier, the academicians from different universities of Delhi, Rajasthan, MP, Bihar and Uttaranchal presented their research papers on different aspects of distance education. The topics included ICT intervention, conceptual dimensions of distance education, learner support service, innovative self learning model and discussions on ideas of the participants were carried out through the seminar.
