“We have taken note of the letter. Our agencies are finding out the authenticity of the letter. Action will be taken if letter was not found to be fake,” said Minister for Urban Development Mohammad Azam Khan in Vidhan Sabha today.

Earlier, leader of Opposition Lalji Tandon said serious points have been made in letter. At this point when Tandon was raising the issue, Congress’ Jagdambika Pal could be heard saying that DM had already contradicted reports about the letter being attributed to him. This evoked strong reaction from Khan who said no member should speak for the DM. It appeared that agents of the officer were present in the House, said Khan adding that such a conduct on the part of a senior member was not acceptable. Pal said the State Government could not absolve itself of the responsibility of posting such officer as DM. Khan, however, said the State Government might have erred in posting such an officer. Such errors were, however, possible as there were no set rules to check them.
