Celebrations to mark Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's birthday took a tragic turn with a youth being gored to death, and over a hundred others getting injured in the Jallikattu sports at Anna stadium.

The Jallikattu, which is associated with the temple festival, was being held as a DMK affair.
The deceased was identified as Subramanium (25). The incident occurred on Sunday evening. Transport Minister K N Nehru distributed the prizes to the winners.
The event attracted a record number of 1,000 bulls. The The injured were given treatment and discharged.
