DMRC to impart 17-week training to Rapid Metro staff

The new transport facility is likely to become operational in Gurgaon by April next year.

In the first batch, around 30 employees will be trained at DMRC’s training institute in Delhi. “The present batch consisting of station controllers and train operators will be given a 17-week intensive training. The DMRC will provide them customised training catering to their special needs. Special training module have been designed to suit their requirements,” said a DMRC spokesperson.

The candidates will be taught about latest technologies such as siemens signaling system, emergency systems, rolling stock (RS), station operation, management, and other aspects. They will also undergo ‘simulator’ training in which they will learn how to drive trains in modes like Automatic Train Protection (ATP).

“The trainees will learn how to start trains, pick up acceleration, brake functions, door functioning, communication within the train, handling emergency situations and passenger evacuation, and Man-Machine Interaction (MMI) within the Train Operator’s Cab,” said the spokesperson.

The DMRC has already trained around 300 executives involved in projects in other cities.
